Estimated Driving Range - Beta Test

Range in the real-world depends mainly on driving speed and temperature. As each car has different battery and aerodynamics (Cd), your driving style will effect your range differently in each car. Do you drive mainly cities or highways? See how each car performs your driving style.

Driving Range (WLTP): 546 km.
Depending on your driving, you can drive more or less km. Move the sliders to see the estimated real-world range for a BMW i4 xDrive40 M Sportpaket 295 kW (401 PS). The model assumes steady driving on flat roads – real-life range will often be lower.

Nice to know

Around 50 km/h at 20 °C often gives the best range. At this speed the balance between time, rolling resistance and wind resistance is optimal.

  • Higher speed (especially above 100 km/h) dramatically reduces range due to air resistance.
  • Cold weather (below 0 °C) reduces range because the battery and cabin heating use extra energy.
  • Very hot weather increases cooling and A/C use, which also reduces range at higher speeds.
  • Fast acceleration, frequent hard braking and stop-and-go traffic increase energy consumption.
  • Roof boxes, bike racks, large wheels and low tyre pressure increase drag and rolling resistance.

Model note: This calculator is comparison-focused. It keeps the original BMW i4 speed + temperature method, and changes WLTP + Cd per selected car.
